当然のように知っておきたいbyとuntilの違い　[英会話(文法)] [編集]

以下の２つの文の違いがわかりますか？

I will finish work by 11 o'clock today.

I am working until 11 o'clock today.

"by"と"until"の意味の違いは紛らわしいですよね。また、たとえ２つのニュアンスがわかっていても、どっちがどっちなのかまでしっかり覚えていないと実際の会話では使いものになりません。

この２つの違いはとても大切なのでぜひここで覚えていってください。

基本としては、"by"は「〜までに」という意味で、期限を表します。一方で、"until"は「〜まで」という意味で、期間を表します。

上に挙げた２つの例で説明をすると、"I will finish work by 11 o'clock today."で「今日は仕事が23時までに終わる」というようにある行為が決められた時間までに終わるという意味になります。つまり、私は23時までに終わるのであって、それが20時なのかもしれないし22時なのかもしれないわけです。

一方で、"I am working until 11 oc'lock today."で「今日は23時まで仕事をしている」というようにある行為が決められた時間までずっと続くという意味になります。つまりこれは、私は23時までずっと仕事をしていて、それまでに仕事が終わるということはないということです。

また、否定文になるとよりややこしくなるので注意が必要です。

例えば、"I will not study by 9 o'clock"は「21時以降勉強する」と言う意味になるのに対して、"I will not study until 9 o'clock."だと「21時に勉強をする」という意味になります。つまり、"by"はそのときまでは何も起こらず、それ以降起こるわけです。しかもそれが22時かもしれないし23時かもしれないわけです。"until"はそのときまで起こらない状態が続くというニュアンスになるわけです。言い換えれば、そのときがくれば起こるわけです。

until: あることが決められた時間までずっと続く

by: あることが決められた時間以降起こる
until: あることが決められた時間に起きる

برگزیده منتقدان در جشنواره کن
2022 است. داستان فیلم برادران لیلا
یک درام خانوادگی است که موضوعات اقتصادی و فرهنگی را در بر می‌گیرد.

این نمایش دور باطلی است که آدم‌ها را در خود می‌چرخاند و به نقطه‌ی دردناک‌تر از اول فیلم
می‌رساند. با این تفاوت که نه تنها چیزی به دست نیاورده‌اند که
از دست داده‌اند. روستایی برای طراحی شیوه انتقال مفاهیم مورد
نظرش گاها از قرینه‌هایی بهره می‌گیرد که
گاه با فاصله زیاد نسبت به هم قرار گرفته‌اند
اما به راستی مکمل یکدیگرند.
بایرام از اسماعیل می‌خواهد بنا به رسم خانوادگی سکه‌هایش
را که تمام دارایی اسماعیل است در عروسی پسر بایرام به عنوان کادو، هدیه دهد.
آنهم با این وجود که سال‌ها پیش بایرام برای عروسی پسر اسماعیل نیامد و هیچ اهمیتی برایش قائل نشد.
دستیابی به این جایگاه حتمی نیست و نیاز به سیاست‌های محتاطانه دارد.
اول اسماعیل باید تظاهر کند که این جایگاه را نمی‌خواهد، در حالی که رقیب

حتی در دعواها و درگیری های فیلم هم نشانه هایی از آرتور میلر دیده می شود.
پدر آن‌ها نیز اسماعیل با بازی سعید پورصمیمی است
که می‌خواهد بچه‌هایش و همچنین خانواده و طایفه‌اش به او احترام بگذارند، به خصوص
پس از اینکه پدرسالار پیر این خاندان از دنیا می‌رود و
همین باعث می‌شود تا اسماعیل خودش را
فرد مناسبی برای جایگاه او ببیند.
اما از این لایه اتفاقا فراگیر و به اصطلاح تماشاگر
پسند که بگذریم، فیلم در سطح دیگری
می‌کوشد با استفاده از همان پوسته‌ی روبنایی‌اش روند
فروپاشی خانواده درون فیلم را واکاوی کند که
گاها به دلایل گوناگون به تمثیل و تشبیه روی می‌آورد.

در واقع‌ شوک‌های مداوم اقتصادی خود به خود بافت
اجتماعی و فرهنگی را متحول کرده بود و عملا قسمت عمده‌ای از
طبقه متوسط شهری به طبقه‌ای پایین‌تر
سوق داده شده بودند. دورانی دشوار
و طاقت‌فرسا گذشته بود و بسیاری از مناسبات اخلاقی
و اجتماعی تغییر شکل داده بودند. دوستانی که از سیاه نمایی صحبت میکنید، آیا این فیلم غیر
از واقعیت چیز دیگه ای گفته؟ وقتی
تو سینمای جهان خاصه سینمای آمریکا،

فیلم تازه سعید روستایی از شب گذشته به طور گسترده در فضای مجازی در حال
پخش است و واکنش‌های مثبت و منفی به آن هم
در حال انتشار است. سعید روستایی نه اینکه قدمی رو به جلو برنمیداره بلکه 10 قدم هم
به عقب برمیداره…. ابدا سیاه نمایی نیست و عین واقعیت هم
هست اما به شدت کار مبتذلی از آب دراومده.
خوب نبودن‌ سینمای ایران هم لازم نداریم فراستی بیاد بهمون بگه.

آنهایی که آگاهانه این فیلم را میکوبند دشمان قسم خورده ملت ایرانند.
